Seafood and Fish: From Bikini Bottom to Rock Bottom and Everywhere in Between

A Pescatarian’s best friend or the perfect way to mix up a carnivore’s diet. Seafood is full of nutrients and comes in an abundance of forms, many of which are a critical source of protein all over the globe.

In this section, we will explore the wide array of seafood and fish that are the focal points of many dinner tables. From the ocean and rivers to your plate, we here at Mama Fang’s can help you explore our offerings.

Seafood Types

  • Fish: How do you choose when there are so many options? Whether you’re looking for a light, flaky fish – say catfish or Norwegian mackerel – or something a bit richer – maybe red snapper or golden pomfret – there are options that fit everyone’s taste buds. This lean source of protein is a great addition to your mealtime, and we’d love to help you find your new (or old) favorite.
  • Shellfish: Shellfish come in two main varieties. The first is crustaceans, which are invertebrate animals with an exoskeleton. Think crabs, shrimp, and lobsters. The second  is mollusks/bivalves, which are invertebrate animals without heads. These would include oysters, clams, and scallops. Whatever you’re into, shellfish offer a ton of flavor and a wealth of nutrients for your next meal.
  • Cephalopods: A member of the mollusk family, cephalopods are the largest and most mobile of the classification, as their biggest distinction is their tentacles (usually 8-10, but sometimes more). These would be our friends, the squid and octopus, which many cultures love to eat for their unique textures and flavors.
  • Other Delicacies from the Sea: There are also a number of non-animal delicacies from the sea to add some more flavors to your table. Seaweed comes in a few types, which are often used for different culinary purposes – some are used to make stock, some are good meat substitutes, and some are just eaten as a snack or garnish. Other lesser-known sea plant snacks include sea beans and sea grapes.

With the largest seafood selection in Manhattan, KS, we are proud to offer many of these items in our shop, whether smoked, cured, or frozen. Visit us soon – we’re excited about sharing the diverse and nourishing world of seafood and introducing you to something new.
